Tragedy struck again in Jigawa State, North West Nigeria, as a fuel-laden tanker exploded, sending shockwaves through the community.

Cyber Reporters reports that this devastating incident comes just a month after a similar explosion in October claimed over 170 lives.

The previous explosion occurred on October 15, 2024, when a petrol-carrying truck traveling from Kano to Nguru in Yobe State burst into flames in Majia, Taura Local Government Area.

According to Aliyu M. A., Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Jigawa State Command, the latest tanker explosion happened on Tuesday at the Jigawa-Kano border, causing widespread panic among bystanders.

The Federal Fire Service received a distress call at 10:43 hours from Kuho Village Head, Zubairu Ahmad, and promptly responded, arriving at the scene at 10:50 hours to contain and bring the fire under control.

This recent incident raises concerns about the safety measures in place to prevent such disasters.

The October explosion resulted in 182 deaths and 78 injuries, with many villagers attempting to scoop up spilled petrol before the fire started.

The Nigerian government has promised a comprehensive review of gasoline transport safety protocols following the previous incident.
