Mr. Macaroni, a popular social activist and skit maker, has called out Nigerian politicians for their lack of regard for citizens, citing their unaccountability to the people as the main reason.
Cyber Reporters reports that this statement comes after a disturbing incident where Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh, a House of Representatives member from Abia State, threatened to harm an Uber driver and even lock him up in his generator house.
This kind of behavior from politicians is unfortunately not surprising, given the widespread culture of clientelism in Nigeria, where politicians prioritize the interests of their core supporters over the broader public.
Mr. Macaroni specifically mentioned the FCT Minister’s condescending remarks, questioning the intelligence of some Nigerians, as an example of this lack of accountability.
He lamented that it is heartbreaking to see that despite the country’s history of broken promises and unfulfilled expectations, politicians continue to disregard the people’s concerns.

The fact that politicians like Ikwechegh feel emboldened to make threats and intimidate citizens without facing consequences is a stark reminder of the power imbalance in Nigeria’s political system, he noted.
Mr Macaroni wrote:
“Nigerian politicians lack regard for Nigerians and this is because they have never been accountable to the people.
“The other day the FCT Minister was addressing some Nigerians and he said; “are you stupid, is it because I came down to talk to you”
“You are a civil servant!
“What do you mean by “is it because I came down to talk to you?”
“You are talking to the people that pay your salary!!! Whatever privileges your office allows you is as a function of your service to the people! You work for the people and not the other way round. Arrogance has no place in public office!!!
“Nigeria is not a private entity. Your duty is to serve!!! You are not anybody’s chairman.
“So, next time any Nigerian politician is addressing the people, please remind them that they are speaking to the people they are serving, not their followers.”
Mr. Macaroni’s statement serves as a wake-up call for Nigerians to demand more from their leaders and hold them accountable for their actions
