The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State has taken a bold step by suspending former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, due to alleged anti-party activities.

The suspension was made official through a resolution submitted to the APC National Secretariat, addressed to National Chairman Umar Ganduje.

According to the Osun APC, Aregbesola’s actions have created divisions within the party, particularly by establishing a splinter faction.

This move according to the Osun APC is seen as undermining the party’s cohesion and unity, particularly during a critical period in state’s politics.

Party leaders claim that Aregbesola’s influence on certain groups has caused significant discord, which has fueled internal divisions.

The APC in Osun views Aregbesola’s actions as a threat to the party’s stability and has taken this suspension as a decisive action to address perceived disloyalty.

By doing so, the party aims to realign its leadership ahead of future elections.

Cyber Reporters notes that this development is part of an ongoing saga, as the APC had previously dragged Aregbesola to court over alleged fractionalization.

Aregbesola’s camp has yet to respond to the suspension, but the situation is likely to unfold in the coming days.

The former governor’s actions have sparked controversy, with some viewing his establishment of the Omoluabi Progressives group as an attempt to undermine the party’s authority.

As the situation develops, it will be interesting to see how Aregbesola’s camp responds and what implications this will have for the party’s future.
