Nigerian Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has expressed pride in being Africa’s sole nominee for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

Lookman’s exceptional form, including a standout performance in Atalanta’s 6-1 victory, has propelled him to this notable milestone.

“It’s special being on the list and even more special being the only African,” Lookman said in an interview.

Lookman’s nomination is a testament to his outstanding achievements with both club and country.

Cyber Reports recalls Lookman made history by scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final, securing Atalanta’s first-ever title.

“That night was special… The way we did it was incredible,” he reflected.

Since joining Atalanta in 2022, Lookman has thrived under coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s attacking style.

His remarkable performances also make him a strong contender for the 2024 CAF Player of the Year award.

While celebrating his achievements, Lookman prioritized collective success, particularly with the national team.

His contributions were pivotal in Nigeria’s 2023 AFCON runner-up finish.

“I’m looking forward to the future and achieving great things,” he said. “I’m always striving for more, and that’s my mindset.”

Lookman will attend the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris tonight, October 28, at 8 p.m.
