Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has condemned the sluggish pace of reconstruction at Okrika Grammar School in Okrika Local Government Area.

During a surprise visit to the project site on Monday, Fubara expressed disappointment and frustration with the contractors’ progress.

The governor’s visit was prompted by conflicting reports from the Commissioner for Education, who claimed that 70% of the work had been completed.

However, Fubara’s on-site assessment revealed a starkly different reality, with progress falling far short of the touted percentage.

Fubara’s dissatisfaction was palpable as he spoke to the press. “I have received updates from the Education Commissioner, but I needed to see the project’s status for myself,” he said. “Okrika is dear to me, and I want to ensure my people receive a top-notch education facility.”

The governor’s assessment was blunt: “I am not satisfied. The commissioner’s 70% completion claim does not align with what I see here today.”

Fubara emphasized his commitment to delivering a revamped Okrika Grammar School, once a premier secondary institution in the state.

The reconstruction project aims to remodel the school’s structures and landscaping. Fubara stressed that the project’s success hinges on strict adherence to specifications and timelines.

“I will summon the contractors for a meeting to emphasize the importance of meeting these standards,” he asserted.

Fubara’s hands-on approach demonstrates his commitment to ensuring that projects align with his vision for the state.

As Fubara takes charge of supervising the project, Okrika Grammar School’s transformation is expected to gain momentum.

The governor’s resolve to deliver a world-class education facility will benefit the community and cement his administration’s legacy in Rivers State.
